One Tree Hill: The Complete Third Season (Repackage)

The Best Yet!
In my junior year of high school ONE TREE HILL premiered after the cancellation of DAWSON'S CREEK and ever since the very first episode I tuned into the series trying to fill the void that DAWSON left. Yet despite the fact that every Thursday morning in Spanish class me and my fellow classmates would spend more time discussing the latest episodes than the verbs we where suppose to be congegating, the series was never really appointment television for me. Although towards the middle of the first season the writers changed part of their staff and the WB put more umpth behind the show and slowly the quality kept building until it reached its penicale in the third season - when ONE TREE HILL became my favorite television on the air (and this being said by a male college sophomore).

Starting in this, the third year, we find the characters very much established as well as their relationships to one another, their histories, and the place in the series as a whole. So right from...

The one thing I can't get enough of
I have been watching one tree hill since the pilot in season one. (this is a teen on her dad's account) During season 1 I just thought it was a good show worthwhile of watching, but midway of the second season it became a must watch, can't get enough of thing for me.

The complexity of the characters in this show is amazing. You know this characters so well, yet some how they still manage to surprise and amaze you.

This show is the best one I've ever watched and I wouldn't be surprised if it went for ten seasons.

Best Season Yet
This show is more than a teen "who ends with whom" show...It's reality.

It's drama.

It's emotional. It can leave you breathless.

And this season was the best yet. It dealt with even more issues: Breast Cancer, suicide, forgiveness, trust, death, second chances, love, and above all: finding yourself. Finding out who you want to be.

It's what the teens, as well as the adults, deal with in every episode.

The acting is wonderful; there isn't a bad apple in the bunch. The chemistry between each character is so obvious on screen that one can easily become up.

The music is hand selected, and fits perfectly to the scene...it's not randomly placed.

The writing this season was brillant. The crew really knew where they wanted to go this season.

There were definately tears, even more shockers, and a few shouts of "FINALLY" over the course of this season (Naley reunion), and this is one fan who eagerly awaits...

One Tree Hill: The Complete Fourth Season (Repackage)

Greatest Season Yet.
This season is by far the greatest season of One Tree Hill yet. If there is one word to describe this season, it would be addictive. This season has some
unforgettable story lines, twists and surprises and introduces new characters from Peyton being stalked, Nathan cheating at the game he loves, Ravens winning the state championship, Peyton And Lucas finally being together, Graduation and Dan facing the harsh consequences for killing his brother and many more. This fourth season is a season no fan of One Tree Hill should ever miss. I highly recommend this season as a must have on DVD. You will not regret having it as part of your DVD collection.

season 4 might be delayed...
It was suppose to release Sept. 25th but since the 5th season isnt due until early 2008 they are pushing the release of the 4th season on dvd. I wish it was sooner =T

ONE TREE HILL IS # 1
I am from Australia and have only seen up to the end of season 3 and i am hanging out for season 4 to be released on DVD so i can watch it, I was so disappointed when the release date was changed from September, I hope it comes out before the end of the year so i can purchase it from Amazon. I must admit i have had a sneak peak on the internet and found out what happens in season 4 but i would much rather watch it on DVD instead of just reading about it. I am totally hooked and watch seasons 1-3 on DVD all the time to get my ONE TREE HILL "fix" until i can watch season 4. I am so excited that they are fliming season 5 but living in Austrlia it will be a long time until i see it. I hope they continue the show for many more seasons to come. They did 10 seasons of 90210 so why can't they do the same with ONE TREE HILL. I hope the network can hurry up and give us a season 4 release date , so we all have something to look forward too.

Ghostbusters [Blu-ray]

Is it worth the Blu-ray version of it?
And the answer is absolutely YES!

I won't get caught in the main synopsis of the movie, I'm guessing you know the story and the actors. If not you should be asking your self where have you been the last twenty years or so...now lets get into it!

Video Quality on this release is in full 1080p using the MPEG-4 codec on a BD-50 (50 gigabyte dual-layered Blu-ray Disc). This is a great catalog release. It is so refreshing to see a studio not attempt tweaking the original image with digital noise reduction and edge enhancement. This is a faithful to the source transfer. Clarity and resolution is where this transfer shines, all the little signs, switches, knobs and so forth are all clearly defined displaying an excellent depth of field. Colors are nicely saturated and accurate displaying good natural hues.

As for the Bonus Materials: these are presented in Standard Definition 480i and High Definition 1080i with Dolby Digital 2.0 sound.

* BD-Live -...

Good DVD and a better story.
I received the DVD a few days earlier than expected, and in an unexpected way.

There was a knock on the door, it was maybe 2 in the morning. I don't really remember. I slowly got out of bed and peeked through the doorhole to see who it could possibly be.

It was Bill effing Murray. Dressed up as a ghostbuster. When I opened the door, he clicked a remote to turn on a stereo boombox he had with him. Ghostbusters theme blaring, he starts dancing. 70's disco style.

After "WHO YOU GONNA CALL," he held the DVD case up to my face and paused the song. I was silent, he lowered the case and put it in my face again.

"Ghostbusters?" I asked.

He started the music again, put the dvd down on my doormat, took the boombox and danced away.

I opened up the DVD case when I got back inside, and on the INSIDE of the SHRINK WRAPPED DVD CASE, I kid you not there was a note that read

"No one will ever believe you. No one buys DVDs...

mastered in 4k - is it worth it?
I already have the 25th anniversary blu-ray edition of this movie, but I was wondering if the 4k would really upgrade the video quality which is not that great on the earlier edition, and this newer edition (at $14.99) was cheap enough to experiment with. I do not have any of the very expensive 4k equipment but the 4k is advertised that it will improve a regular blu-ray. Side by side with the earlier blu-ray version, I would say that there is a noticeable upgrade in the foreground of the scene and some shots come out very clear. It is enough of an improvement that I am keeping this one, but don't get rid of your earlier editions because this one does not have any features. The 25th anniversary blu has all the original dvd features plus some forgetable new features such as info on the Ghostbusters video game. So I am keeping them both. Amazon has the unfortunate habit of using all 555 reviews which go back to the dvd version which I find very confusing when I am trying to decide if an...

Hopalong Cassidy Ultimate Collector's Edition

All 66 Hopalong Cassidy movies in one DVD Collection
This really is the first time that all 66 Hopalong Cassidy movies have been assembled into one DVD collection. I have been trying to collect them all on DVD for a long time. 16 of the early movies were released as double features on DVD. Those are out of print and are very hard to find. The re-mastering of the movies is great. They are a huge improvement over the VCR tapes. The sound is surprisingly good.

Please note that this collection does not include any of the 52 TV programs. You can get them at Amazon.com under "Hopalong Cassidy: Complete Collection". That set has all 52 programs and 10 movies. Amazon.com also has the 52 TV programs on two separate sets of 26 TV episodes." Hopalong Cassidy TV Collection #1" and "Collection 2".

I highly recommend this item to all fans of Hopalong Cassidy, westerns and classic film and television.

Hopalong Cassidy 5-disc set CONTENTS
This is not a review but in answer to another reviewer's concern about contents: This CASSIDY set includes "Hidden Gold," "Stagecoach War," "The Showdown," "Three Men from Texas," "Doomed Caravan," "Pirates on Horseback," "In Old Colorado," "Riders of the Timberline," "Wide Open Town," "Stick to Your Guns," "Leather Burners," "Undercover Man," "Border Patrol," "False Colors," "Riders of the Deadline," "Colt Comrades," "Forty Thieves," "The Devil's Playground," "Fool's Gold," "Dangerous Venture," "Unexpected Guest," "Borrowed Trouble," "Sinister Journey," "False Paradise," and "The Dead Don't Dream." 26 1/2 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1.

A blessing....and a curse!
Yes, all 66 Hoppy features are collected together for the first time. Why the whacky title order on the discs? Sadly, because the first 8 discs are identical to the previous Platinum releases. In fact, they ARE the old Platinum discs, right down to the disc labelling (Platinum became Echo Bridge Entertainment). As such, they suffer from the same over-compression, cramming 5 titles per single sided/single-layered disc. Wish I could say that the "new" discs were any different, as they are not. If you watch these on a standard-def TV and the screen is not too large, then they might look OK. Otherwise, look forward to blurring and other motion artifacts. They are quite watchable, but certainly not up to the standards seen on the Image DVD transfers.

Sadly, this will probably be the only "complete collection" available of the feature films. Recommended only for big-time Hoppy fans.

As an interesting footnote....these same guys at Echo Bridge DID try to do...

Transformers: The Complete First Season (25th Anniversary Edition)

More Than Meets The Eye!
A lot of us grew up on the Generation One or G1 Transformer's long before a live action film about giant transforming robots could have been thought possible. Now to tie in with this summer's live action sequel, Transformer's 2: Revenge Of The Fallen, comes this 3-Disc DVD set containing all sixteen episodes of the first season of this beloved eighties classic. Those sixteen episodes, originally airing September 17th to December 29th 1984, are:

1: More Than Meets the Eye (1)
2: More Than Meets the Eye (2)
3: More Than Meets the Eye (3)
4: Transport to Oblivion
5: Roll for It
6: Divide and Conquer
7: S.O.S. Dinobots
8: The Ultimate Doom: Brainwash (1)
9: The Ultimate Doom: Search (2)
10: The Ultimate Doom: Revival (3)
11: War of the Dinobots
12: Countdown to Extinction
13: Fire in the Sky
14: Heavy Metal War
15: Fire on the Mountain
16: A Plague of Insecticons

Special Features Are So Far...

For Transformers G1 fans, this is the definitive version of season 1 to own on DVD!
1984, "THE TRANSFORMERS" was a merchandise success as every child wanted to own the latest Transformers toys from Hasbro and act out their own personal battles between the Autobots and the Decepticons and own their favorite robots that came from the popular television and comic book series (despite the TV show and comics having different storylines).

The first season which was written and recorded in the US featured animation by Japan's Toei Animation, aired on television in the US between September through December 1984. The series is based on the popular Japanese toys from Takara and various other toy companies (ie. Shockwave came from ToyCo., the Insecticons and Skyfire came from Takatoku Toys, etc.) and developed into a line called "Transformers" by Hasbro in the United States. The TV series which featured the first season characters (known as Generation 1 or "G1') would spawn about 98 episodes in a total of five seasons.

The first season was originally...

Improved but still has errors
Most of the reviews on here give a rather lenghy description of all the great stuff and histroy etc. I will simply point out a few bad points as this set is not perfect (so don't expect it to be).

First off Shout! Factory was formed from Rhino, so the same people are behind this...you can read about it from their website. However they did attempt to fix many of the errors that were present on the original disc.

1. A lot of the ending credits text is actually misalined, though you can't notice unless you compare it to the broadcast versions. The first few eopisodes have the wrong (more then meets the eye) ending credits.

2.The last 4 epoisodes sound effects are turned down much to low. The remix was doing well up until Ultimate Doom 3 and the rest have loud dialog and low sound effects.

-The Ultimate Doom: Part 3
-Countdown to Extinction
-A Plague of Insecticons
-Heavy Metal War

3. Some scenes they fixed like with...

Inside the Wire: Guantanamo

A fairly accurate representation but a bit slow.
I ordered this movie to use in class. It is 90 minutes in length and it gives a general overview of the prison at Guantanamo Bay while following along a couple of US military members. The footage was all filmed during a 3 week period but is supplemented with shots of other periods. There are also some interviews with former detainees that have been released back to their homeland. The movie tries to give a fairly balanced view of what went on, but tends to dwell a bit on the question of whether or not improper treatment took place. The depiction of what the place is like is quite accurate. The viewer comes away seeing how the place represents something of a no-win situation for the US and situation of prolonged desperation for the detainees. The only issue with the documentary is that it bogs down from time to time. The story probably could have been told in an hour or so. If you are interested in Guantanamo, it's worth checking this film out because there isn't much out there and...

Heavily biased with a slant against the US Military...
I have an interest in both Cuba and the Middle East, and thought this documentary would be interesting. Like some of the other reviewers, I was extremely disappointed. Too much sympathy is given to the detainees, and their plight of being unfairly imprisoned. National Geographic has clearly taken the side of trying to "expose" improprieties and alleged human rights violations. I believe there are reasons for each of the detainees to be held, and what they do there is (and needs to be) classified for good reason. These are not thrillseeker liquor store hold-up robbers with "Born to Lose" tattoos on their chests...

And unfortunately there is almost no mention of how the base exits in Cuba with so much animosity between the two nations. Why does Cuba permit the base to operate there? That seems like pretty important information to be included in a documentary about Gitmo, but there is not a word about that.

So, yes, it is a glimpse into the life of a guard at...

Informative, but clearly biased.
Since the beginning I could notice bias in this documentary. However, I watched it entirely because it turns informative and interesting if you know how to balance the content by yourself. Some former detainees are presented as completely innocent or people turned into fanatics terrorists by the alleged cruelty faced during their detention in Guantanamo.
