THE FBI FILES - Famous Kidnappings - AS SEEN ON DISCOVERY CHANNEL!!!!!

Four Interesting Cases
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is the highest law enforcement agency in America, and arguably the most sophisticated in the world. Originally aimed at interstate crime, the FBI's mission now includes one of the most baffling and cruel crimes, kidnappings. THE FBI FILES brings you into the world of the FBI as it unravels some of the most puzzling and bizarre kidnapping cases in recent American history. Retired Special Agent and former Director in Charge of the FBI's New York Office James Kallstrom is your host in these true life crime dramas, taking you behind the scenes with re-enactments and interviews with the actual participants and victims.

I like The FBI Files, I think it's a very interesting show. This set is a good idea, putting 4 episodes about a similar subject (Kidnapping Cases) together on 2 discs. Each episode is 50 minutes long, and all four cases are very interesting. If you don't buy a lot of DVDs, or are not a huge fan of this show then I highly...

Be part of the investigation.
I enjoyed watching this two kidnapping cases, it contains only two episodes, but is worth adding to a collection if crime investigation is your topic of interest,.the acting is actually very good, excellent picture, very clear and the narration step by step of the development of the investigation is cohesive,.makes you believe in the justice system.

Kidnapping Stories from FBI Files Seasons I & II
This package contains four kidnapping stories from the FBI Files seasons I & II. Stories included are: The Polly Klaas Kidnapping, 'Family Secrets', 'Melissa Brannen: Missing,' & 'Cat & Mouse.'

The Exterminator

Blu Review 46 - The Exterminator
The Exterminator Blu-ray Review

Distributor : Synapse Films (US)

For a movie that contains such visual delights as beatings, burning, beheading, forced prostitution and the painfully slow decent of another unfortunate victim into a working meat grinder, it is no wonder that the The Exterminator has had its share of controversy over the years.

Robert Ginty plays an ordinary every day guy who after a particularly nasty attack on his best friend, sets about dispatching the criminal element of 1980's New York in ways which would give even Jigsaw nightmares. Highlights of vengeance include extreme facial surgery involving a group of hungry rats, poison tipped bullets and the previous mentioned incident where the local gangster is quite literally turned into a string of sausages. Even the family dog doesn't escape unharmed in this one folks!

With the varying amounts of violence on display, it is no wonder that the film has suffered numerous cuts...

I GIVE UP !!!!!WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE THIS MOVIE A PROPER RELEASE!!!
Ok I thought the Anchor Bay re-release of this film a few years ago would be the LAST and final time this FANTASTIC movie would see the light of day. Then only last month I find out that TANGO? Entertainment has slated to release this film and it has been digitally REMASTERED!!!SWEET.I then read that this will ONLY be available FULLSCREEN not in Widescreen. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!! So today the disc arrives. The packaging is super cheap and nothing to it.However I NEVER judge a disc on that. So i pop the disc in...well Yeah HURRAY it is in WIDESCREEN HOWEVER THIS HAS NOT BEEN REMASTERED!!!!!!!!It is exactly the same poor print Anchor Bay was shoving in our faces. So these guys pick up ther print from Anchor Bay and slap it in a new box. Check out the Green Background scenes AND the Rooftop scenes (always a good point to see those nicks and scratches)This is pathetic. This film MORE than deserves a proper release. If you OWN the Anchor Bay cut of this then keep it and skip this. If not...

THE CRIME RIDDEN STREETS OF NEW YORK CITY CIRCA 1979-1980. THE "EXTERMINATOR CAPTURES THOSE TURBULANT TIMES BRILLIANTLY......
The Exterminator was made before big budget movies like the The Terminator 1984 and Terminator 2 - Judgment Day (Extreme DVD) 1991, Exterminator relied on a low budget and some great acting and guts. I will say The Exterminator was, and is a blueprint for all hollywood vigilante type films after 1980, that even "Titanic 1997" director James Cameron has seen and took notice of. People have complained about a properer release of "The Exterminator". I agree, I wish this 1998 Anchor Bay release had some extra features, interviews, Director comments and of course "Exterminator" Trailers. This film is presented in its original widescreen 1:85:1. I think the film transfer of this film to dvd is excellent and again another fine Anchor Bay release. The roof scene with the pigeons you do see some dust lines, but that was because the of this films low...

Family Guy, Volume Seven

Volumes
As much as I love Family Guy, I still can't understand this volume business. Thirty to forty dollars for 12-13 half hour episodes is not acceptable. Smallville and Battlestar Galactica charge that much for entire seasons composed of 20-22 one hour episodes (for seasons one and three for BSG, anyway, since I still don't understand the 2.0, 2.5, 4.0, and 4.5 crap, but I waited for the price to drop on those as well).

And on top of that, the packaging of previous volumes has been done away with for the cheaper flip box. If a premium price is going to be charged, then I expect premium services.

So my complaint isn't the show, which I still give five stars to, but the price and packaging. I did my usual thing of waiting and waiting and the price eventually came down, but lets be serious. Shouldn't have to do that.

The DVD content is great, however it is falsely advertised.
The content of Family Guy Volume 7 is great stuff, by all means buy it. However, when you receive it, you won't get what's pictured. The DVD no longer comes with the sleeve featuring the Griffins, just the bare-bones case, which doesn't make much sense. I was a little miffed because I bought it as a gift, and the person it was for knew there was a sleeve for the case, so it just made me seem cheap when I gave them a half-assed copy of it.

it's not even the right cover!
Okay I didn't buy it from Amazon but that's not the point, I saw the pic , saw it was 13.99 an said to myself "sold!". well I shouldn't have, when i got it the picture on the actual case didn't match the one on the website and it was in a regular dvd case.( it had a horse and lincoln on the front not the usual family guy picture) no way can three discs be in here. So , i went to Amazon to check out reviews(cause Amazon peeps review the best). So, I found out that Seth Macfarland pretty much went cheapy on the season or volume ...whatever it is and jipped us, the viewers, his meal ticket, with this one. I just wish they would advertise it with the right cover and tell us exactly what i'm buying. thank god it was cheap!

Jesse Stone: Thin Ice

Darker, More Somber, but Selleck Shines as Stone...
Tom Selleck's fifth installment as Robert Parker's alcoholic Police Chief, in "Jesse Stone: Thin Ice", lacks the ironic edginess and humor of the previous films (based, for the first time, on original material, not a Parker novel), and the presence of Viola Davis as the heart of the tiny Paradise Police Department is sorely missed, but Selleck is terrific, and the film will certainly please his fans!

As always, Stone is in hot water with the Paradise City Council; town revenue is down (as he had fired his department's biggest ticket-writer), and he refuses to hire a Council member's son-in-law to fill the vacancy; and while in Boston in a borrowed Paradise police car, Stone and his buddy, Captain Healy (Stephen McHattie), are shot, with Stone under an Internal Affairs investigation for firing back. More is on his plate, as well; a mother (Camryn Manheim) arrives in town, begging for his aid in finding her long-missing child, and his ex-wife informs him she plans to move in...

Number Five and still rolling
I watched the fifth instalment of the Jesse Stone story. I will not say it is my favorite. Stone Cold is my favorite. But the fifth one, Thin Ice is well worth watching and owning. The charactor development is not as good as earlier ones, nor is the plot as itricate. I atribute that to Parkers book and not the acting or direction. The story is still credible. I own the whole series that has been released to date. I have even given some extra DVD copies away to friends to enjoy. I highly recommend this and all of the Jesse Stone films. I live not far away from there the fictional town of Paradise, Massachusetts is supposed to be located. Aside from the area being abit more populated that is portrayed in the movie, they capture the feel of the area 15 to 20 miles North of Boston. I hope there will be a number six so Jesse's charactor is redeemed from his drinking and vindicated in his work...Jesse Stone: Thin Ice

GREAT!
All of the JESSE STONE movies are more than worth the price of admission. Engrossing and penetrating, true to the books that spawned them, Tom Selleck excels in this role. He is one of the most underrated actors in the US. Please -- more JESSE STONE movies to follow!

Invasion Iowa

Freaking Hilarious
I first saw this when it aired on Spike TV several years ago and kept it on my TIVO for TWO YEARS until I had to switch to DirecTV and sorrowfully lost it.

Why do I love this reality TV sendup so much? (1) William Shatner is a sweetheart. I thought he'd be snarky but instead he (like all of us viewers) falls hard for the people of Riverside, Iowa. (2) Yes, the show manipulates situations for shock value but there's no cruelty or exploitation of the locals who are taken in by the premise (3) William Shatner is the first to laugh at himself and the comedy of his life as Kirk... which gives us license to do so, too and (4) The show is FREAKING HILARIOUS. I live in a multi-story home. My husband works in an office three stories above the TV room. While I watched this show, he had to come down and ask me why in hell I was laughing so hard.

Shatner will SMITE you...with laughter
Riverside, Iowa is purported to be the town where in the future, James T. Kirk will be born. It seemed inevitable that William Shatner would show up there sooner or later. But only Shatner could have pulled off this stunt. Pretending to be making a sci-fi film using locals, Shatner and his eccentric entourage (improvisational actors playing his dim-witted nephew, buxom ditzy costar, and new age guru) descend on Riverside and commence the wackiest production imaginable.

Spoilers:

Most of the townsfolk seem only too happy to work on the production and indulge Shatner's eccentricities, which include eating off other people's plates, plugging his own brand of berets, and covering for another star's kleptomania. A younger local suspects very early on that this is a Reality TV gimmick, and he promptly disappears from the production.

Shatner is game throughout, bonding with the people of Riverside and displaying none of the aloofness that some of his Trek...

Very Funny!
I found this to be extremely funny, especially being from Iowa. It is a little on the cheesy side, but for the most part, just good fun. It was even emotionally touching at times. It really exposes the kind hearts and hospitality of Iowans.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Skynet Edition) [Blu-ray]

The Most Awesome DVD Ever Created. Trash The Old Disk!
This new "Ultimate Edition DVD" of Terminator 2 Judgement Day, one of the biggest box office smashes of all time, is truly The Ultimate Edition. Unless you get this outside of the US (which I did) you have two disks. One disk is the movie (THREE versions of the movie, in fact), and the next disk is all the special features. And it takes DAYS getting through every feature. I mean, three documentary, 8 trailers and TV spots, an entire script, interviews that you can access separately, and 52 chapters of behind the scenes footage, from makeup to visual effects, from editing to restoring deleted scenes. There are so many special features, this is what DVD was made for! You can also look at the original drawings of certain scenes, awesome!!!!

However, I find the real highlight of this disk (or disks) to be the movie itself, I mean WOW!!! You get three, I repeat, three, versions of the movie. One is the original theatrical version, featuring no cut out scenes (the worst), the...

I'll Tell You How to Get A Different Ending!!!!
OK If you go to the menu, where it will say "Play Theatrical Version" and "Play Special Edition", using your remote control, type in (you may have to press enter in-between each number) 82997 (that's EIGHT TWO NINE NINE SEVEN). Then the "Play Special Edition" option will change to "Play Extended Special Edition" and you get two more added scenes. One where the T-1000 searches John Connor's room, and a different ending set in the future!

Please vote for me if you found my review helpfull (PLEASE!!!)...

Features galore!
This is the most feature packed DVD I own!

Terminator 2 THE ULTIMATE EDITION DVD actually has 3 different versions of the movie; the original theatrical release lasting 136 minutes, the special edition version lasting 153 minutes and an extended special edition clocking in at 155 minutes and 43 seconds which is accessed by an "Easter Egg" discussed below.

You can access the extended special edition version by selecting special edition from the menu and then entering 82297 on your remote's numeric keypad. You may have to press "enter" after each number on certain DVD players. An easier method is to just select title number 3 from your remote.

The picture quality and sound quality are top-notch on this DVD and it is my top choice for showing off my system to friends and family! It includes Dolby Digital 5.1 EX, DTS 5.1 ES and Dolby Digital 2.0 mixes. The EX and ES designations refer to a new standard that includes a sixth channel of sound that...

Van Helsing (Import) [Blu-ray]

See the Movie Before Reviewing It
Why do people pan a movie so harshly when they haven't even seen it yet? I have seen VAN HELSING in an audience preview, and I will tell you that the trailer doesn't come close to describing the film. As the Universal folks said, the special effects weren't finished in time for the trailer... but the final product is absolutely stunning.

No, critics will probably not like this fun romp through Van Helsing's monster adventures. It might not win an Academy Award for its script. But if you liked The Mummy or other epic adventures of its type, you ARE going to be the right audience for VAN HELSING.

This movie is just plain fun. The story pays homage to the classic monster legacy films in Universal's vault, as well as many modern day adventures. Van Helsing is a James Bond character of dark Transylvania. And his battles against Dracula are a roller coaster ride with non-stop action and vivid, beautiful scenery.

If you're an art film snob or the type who overanalyzes...

Van Helsing is a fun, tongue-in-cheek, salute to the horror films of the 50's and 60's.
This film is a throwback to those old 50's horror films that had classic monsters doing battle with each other coupled with the wit of the 60's era all combined with the thrills and special effects of today's films.

Entertainment rarely gets better than this. Now stop laughing at my five stars for this kind of film. This isn't the five stars you would give a film like Platoon or The Painted Veil. It's more like the five stars you would you give a film like Aliens or Die Hard. This is fun, thrilling, and engaging entertainment. It's simple popcorn fun that the whole family, for the most part, can enjoy. The CGI can be a little over-the-top, but it is still excellently done and doesn't...

Don't Believe the Negative Comments (Entirely)
Don't let the negative comments scare you away from this film; most of these viewers totally missed the point of the film. This is a actually a parody of the horror genre (like Polanski's "The Fearless Vampire Killers"). So if you don't appreciate parody don't watch it and I'm not guaranteeing that you will find it good parody, just don't dismiss the film because somebody thought it was serious and said or wrote something negative about it-they are probably clueless.

Parody/satire of horror films has a long tradition and ranges from the obvious (see Abbott & Costello, Mel Brooks, and "Redneck Zombies") to the subtle (see "The Fearless Vampire Killers" and "Evil Dead"). Before reading many of the comments I would have grouped "Van Helsing" closer to the obvious, after all the film depicts a Vatican Department modeled on James Bond's Special Weapons "Q" Section. But apparently even something so obvious is not registering with many people, if the true measure of a 'subtle'...
