New York Yankees Perfect Games and No-Hitters

Great set for any baseball fan
A great way to start off the new baseball season. Would be worth it just to own Larsen's Perfect game and the DVD includs the TV and Radio broadcasts of the game. Please take note. The first inning of this game is still "lost" so the TV game broadcast starts with the second batter in the top of the second inning.

Dodger fan admits ...this is a stunning collection!
Hi Folks,

As a lifetime fan of the Dodgers (as a kid watched my parents glee at the '63 drubbing of the hated Yankees) I can still enjoy a wonderfully put together set of DVDs. the YES network just put on the best shows so YANKEEOLOGY are a great addition to my baseball collection for the terrific footage and lets face it the Yankees are the most honored franchise in history with a history full of great players. I bought this set even though there are no Ruths or Mantles ..because of the HISTORY and DRAMA. Its so fun to watch these games evolve...being in on the joke so to speak and watching and listening to the announcers and crowd finally get the punch line and start rooting. Knowing the outcome doesn't ruin it for me..and the fact that several of these pitchers were in the twilight of their careers is only the better and on Yogi Berra day with Don Larsen in the house?....WOW! and don't get me started on Jim Abbott who started off here with the ANGELS..what an...

Awesome DVDs!
This is a great collection of perfect games and no-hitters. The DVD menu is awesome! You can choose the inning you want (top or bottom). I got this for my brother for Christmas and he loves it! A perfect gift for any sports fan.

The Universe: The Complete Season Three

disappointing season
Ok. As a scientist, I found the first 2 seasons to be quite entertaining even though the material is fairly basic (it's not meant to be for astrophysics geeks). The show has always had alot of bang and big and bold photos, very colorful, very creative. Then there's the third season... come on. Sex in space? what a crappy episode. There is so much that we know (and don't know) about space that they can go on and on and talk about the Universe for the next 30 years...but instead they got this snoozer lame episode about popping out kids in space with very little fact and mostly just opinions and speculation. They didn't even really bother getting into the details regarding the animal research that has been done. I had to shut it off...couldn't finish watching that stupid episode. And the episode which talks about neutrinos....didn't even properly define it. Good job, professors. If you are really trying to educate the public about space and you want to talk about particles,...

It just keeps getting better!
Very informative, educational, interesting, and fun! The special effects and great narrative performance makes this show my favorite. This is by far the best TV series I have ever seen. I have watch every episode multiple times. Another great thing about this show is that it includes some of the greatest physicist of today, such as Michio Kaku. I highly recommended anybody who is even slightest interested in the final frontier to add this DVD set to their collection.

I especially love the episode "Parallel Universes". For all open minded people, this is an episode you must see.

History channel presents: running out of ideas
I love this series, I really do, season 1 of the Universe is probably the most interesting thing I've seen on TV. By season 3, it seems as though they've run out of things to talk about. Sex in space, really?? Really?? That episode was only worth watching because of the hilarious space docking visual metaphors they would throw in at appropriate times. Alien faces?? Who cares?!

There's interesting stuff here, but it's not up to the quality of the first two seasons. I will still buy season 4 however.

Licence to Kill [Blu-ray]

A tough, gritty Bond film.
"Licence To Kill" is one of the most controversial films in the Bond catalog. For many, it is too violent (in a realistic way, without the comedic or fantasy elements), and does not feature a "Bondian" villian or plot. For others, however it is a return to the classic Fleming style, as seen in "From Russia With Love," and "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."

Of all the actors that have played James Bond, Timothy Dalton provided the most accurate interpretation of Ian Fleming's character. That may be a different character than the one that Sean Connery played, and certainly quite different than the one Roger Moore played, but Dalton's performance as Bond in "License To Kill," and "The Living Daylights," is the truest to Fleming's novels.

The Special Edition DVD of "License To Kill" is quite special indeed. A beautiful widescreen picture, crystal clear sound, and a plethora of special features (like the other Bond special editions) including theatrical...

The best Bond film with the second-best Bond
If you enjoyed the first few James Bond films with Sean Connery (before the franchise turned into a campy parody of itself), then you'll like this one. Although it's not based on any of Ian Fleming's original stories, it captures their feel better than anything since _From Russia With Love_.

Timothy Dalton's steely Bond is arguably the closest to date to Fleming's original vision for the MI6 secret agent (not 'spy', please). He's as tough and lean as Connery ever was, and he brings something of Connery's lupine charm to the role.

The rest of the movie is extremely well done. Robert Davi is one of the best villains since Goldfinger, and surely one of the most realistic in the entire series. Carey Lowell, though mostly effective, is a little underwhelming in the acting department. And the plot -- lifted at least partly from Fleming's _Live and Let Die_ (which is the source for the bad thing that happens to Felix Leiter early in the film) -- gives Dalton's Bond an...

One of the Series Best!
I have seen where a few critics have down-graded this movie and that is a shame as "License to Kill" has a lot going for it. The concept of Bond as a rogue was a refreshing change, and one of the best concepts in any of the Bond films. Essentially, the plot goes as follows: A renown drug dealer Sanchez (Robert Davi) is arrested in Miami with help of the DEA and Felix Leiter (Bond's CIA contact and good friend). Following the arrest, Felix gets married. Sanchez escapes and commits a brutal act of revenge before returning to Isthmus City. James Bond (Timothy Dalton), determined to take Sanchez down, enlistes Pam Bouvier (Carey Lowell) to help him. One problem for Bond is that Sanchez is well guarded and has numerous contacts. Bond will have to have to be careful in infiltrating Sanchez. The other problem is that he is now a rogue agent, having his license to kill revoked by the British government.

The only real weak points of this movie would be the occasional weak...

Ice Road Truckers: The Most Dangerous Episodes

Gift for someone who has everything!
This was a gift for someone who has everything and is hard to shop for. This item was a huge success, and I will purchase more in the future for the same person. I think she has watched this dvd so many times, she has almost worn it out!

Christmas Gift
I can't really speak about this DVD since it is a gift and I have not viewed it. It did arrive very quickly and was reasonably priced.

Expectations Exceeded
It came in perfect condition. There was no indication of mishandling. It was a gift, which made all of this vital for a good impression on a future in-law.

2008 MLS Cup Championship Game: Columbus Crew

Great for your MLS collection
If you're a Columbus fan, this is the DVD for you. It doesn't show too much of the Crew's championship season, just a recap of the best goals and victories put to music. But there are quite of bit behind the scenes features, and they talk to the top stars of the Crew before and after the MLS Cup final. It has the final game in its entirety against the New York Red Bulls too. Overall, a great buy for a Columbus Crew fan, and just a fan of the MLS, like myself.

A massive season. The 08 Crew.
Very good content. Maybe some more player reactions. But that might be nit picking. Love to see any MLS products to come out. It's a piece of history for any fan of the league.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Season 7, Pt. 1 - The Leonardo Slice

The 25th Anniversary of TMNT
THE SHOW

The seventh season of this series aired in the second half of 1993. It is notable for a number of reasons, the most obvious being that it marked the end of an era in terms of the overall tone and look of the show. Starting with the show's eighth season, which aired the following year, nearly all the hallmarks of the show - all the touchstones that made the series what it was - would be gone. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let us break down the seventh season of the show.

The first 13 episodes of the seventh season are what fans have dubbed the "European Vacation" shows. These episodes have always been a bit of a mystery among fans, if only because, in some aspects of the story, they seem to be out of place in the seventh season. During the first episode of the fourth season, the Turtles find out that they have won a vacation to Europe. So, it would stand to reason that the first leg of season four would be the Turtles' adventures traveling...

The Seventh Slice: Part 1
For the 25th Anniversary of TMNT, LionsGate released Season 7 in four part DVDs.

Season 7 Part 1 Episodes are:

Tower of Power
Rust Never Sleeps
A Real Snow Job
Venice on the Half Shell
Artless
The Lost Queen of Atlantis

These episodes are part of the side-season when the turtles went to Europe. The special feature is A Shellabration With Points of Articulation: A Look Back at the Most Turtleastic Toys.

I only bought the season in four parts so I could get the the miniature TMNT toys. I recommend others to buy the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Complete Season 7 Set.

*FYI:figures are miniatures,not full-size original figure replicas
I was at a big box store and saw these season 7 "slices", I remembered seeing them on Amazon first and thinking "oh cool, they come with an OG-style toy too!"--NOT exactly. I looked at the packaging and saw this micro-figure that has the weapons permanently attatched to it's hands. Sooo...I give these season 7s 4/5 stars because although the included figures are kinda lame, at least more seasons of old TMNT are still being released.

Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970s Vol. 1

A trip back to Saturday Mornings, but the 1970's were not as good as the 1960's
I give this five stars, as I believe this is the best way to see some of these 1970's shows. Most of these have not yet been released on DVD, and to be honest: one episode is enought in some cases.
Those that have been previously released on DVD are worth the entire sets.
1962's THE JETSONS feels out of place here, but it was still in network re-runs on Saturday Mornings. However I wish another 1970's show would have bene included. As this is "volume 1" I am sure the missing shows will see their way to DVD.

These were all produced by Hanna-Barbera.

Disc #1
THE JETSONS - The Space Car (also on season 1 DVD set)
THE BATMAN TARZAN ADVENTURE HOUR
HONG KONG PHOONEY (also on complete series DVD set)
GOOBER AND THE GHOST CHASERS
SPEED BUGGY
WHEELIE AND THE CHOPPER BUNCH

Disc #2
YOGI'S GANG
AMAZING CHAN AND THE CHAN CLAN
ROMAN HOLIDAYS
JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS (also on season 1 DVD set)
THE NEW...

'A' for effort but a mixed bag in execution
As a kid, I devoured all the Saturday Morning TV in the '70s I could take. Now as an adult, I'm amazed by the fact that a 70's Cartoon collection like this even exists so let's start off with the positive.

This is a great sample of pop culture history. Remember, no home video market in the '70's so the best chance to see the new comedy or adventure animated fare were only on Saturdays. It was an weekly event for kids and a boon for animation houses like Hanna-Barbera and Filmation to name a few. I was very pleased to see some long forgotten favorites such as Filmation's Tarzan and HB's Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch (an early precursor to Pixar's 'Cars'). Speed Buggy is another fun show represented I can't believe isn't on its own series DVD set yet. Of course other classics are represented here as well like The JETSONS and SCOOBY-DOO although the episodes here have already been released on other series DVD sets.

Which leads to where I think this set falls short...

Saturday Morning Cartoons
I wanted my grandchildren to experience an era where cartoons were fun to watch so I bought the Saturday Morning Cartoons:1970s Vol I. for them to watch the cartoons their parents watched when they were growing up. They were a hit!
